Snails Up Close by Greg Pyers
Snails are mollusks. The largest kind of snail is the giant African land snail. It can get as big as 8 inches long. The smallest snails get as big as 1/2 inch long. Snails have eyes but can only see darkness and light. Snails wave their tentacles to pick up smells in the air. They hide in their shells when they are touched or sense danger. The snails shell also keeps them from drying out. Snails live in vegetable gardens, ponds, and in the sea. They eat leafy vegetables and flowers.
